The bustling Telegram community at CryptoRank hosted us for an AMA. The format was to answer three questions from their team, then some from their Twitter followers, and then open it to the Telegram followers in the channel to fire away. We got through as many as we could, and here’s the results!

Legends of Elumia

Questions from the CryptoRank team (Taken from https://t.me/CryptoRankEn provided to their community post-AMA and edited for clarity).

#1. Can you tell us about Legends of Elumia? What problems do you solve, both in the space and for the community?

Most importantly, Legends of Elumia is an MMORPG first. It’s built by a team with vast experience making core games. Creating a compelling world of adventure, exploration, action, and excitement is paramount. It is then enhanced immeasurably by everything that ownership really means in the metaverse.

Owning land, buildings, and businesses not only provides players many more options in how they exist in the world, and for what purpose, but also drives deep engagement in the setting, the lore, their characters, and their relationships. Through NFT, gamers will never have had the kind of deep relationship with the game world as Legends of Elumia will offer.

Also, the problem it solves is that most existing NFT live games are not really that fun to play, tbh. We have experience building games people normally would pay to play, so we know how to make fun games. This is a fun game first.

We’re excited that the game we’re building will appeal to gamers of all experience levels, and they will be able to find a satisfying role and presence. The ownership of NFTs and having a tangible impact on governance will only serve to boost their level of engagement.

#2. Could you briefly describe the milestones Legends of Elumia has achieved, and about your upcoming plans?

Development has been underway by the team of 40 for some time. Obviously, building any MMO is a major undertaking but the leadership team has been working extremely successfully in this space for a long time.

So, we’re confident of hitting all the significant milestones we’ve set on the production schedule (whatever Covid or the world, in general, might throw at us). We have an initial roadmap on our website at elumia.io that plots out a distinct course.

Now, as anyone familiar with video game development knows, deadlines are there to be broken! Well, pushed. Well… seriously adhered to! But seriously, every facet of design and engineering must be executed perfectly. We have the experience and production expertise to manage this process efficiently. And we’re working on that.

Obviously, that entails the creation of a massive amount of assets, of gameplay mechanics to be designed and tested, of under-the-hood technology to be integrated and streamlined.

Questions from Twitter

Can you list 1–2 killer features of your project that make it ahead of its competitors? What is the competitive advantage Legends of Elumia project has that you feel most confident about?

I think a couple of those key advantages are the experience of the team making MMOs. Add that to having built and managed our own server architecture for other past projects, this gives us a development time advantage over other projects starting from a blank space.

Folks on the team have not just “worked on” past MMOs, but built them from the ground up and shipped them successfully… all parts of the experience chain that are vital when making something of the scope and scale of Legends of Elumia.

Do you feel that you have a team that can take your project to great heights? How many team members are there right now that are working together?

Everyone on the team (about 40 right now) is deeply committed because they collectively believe in the vision. Vitally, alongside experience specializing in MMORPGs, the vast majority of the team PLAY them, too! Seems odd to explain, but it’s really important. So, we’re really looking forward to taking that knowledge from the experience of making and playing and integrating in-game asset ownership with NFTs.

The main problems with blockchain-based games are poor graphics quality and terrible gameplay. So, how can you solve this problem on your platform while the others simply can’t? What methods do you use to ensure user satisfaction with the games on your platform?

Well, we didn’t want to say… but yeah, a lot of these games are rushed and not created by experience game makers. Our team is used to making quality games that are — critically — fun to play. We’re taking that experience and bringing it to this space — a real game that is genuinely fun to play.

Questions from Telegram

Many projects have problems with UI/UX and this turns off new users. How do you plan to improve the interaction with new users and with users outside the crypto space?

Fundamentally, having experience with past projects serves to inform design decisions in the UI/UX space so that they are accessible (and even familiar) to all experience levels.

According to the roadmap, what is your next priority?

We’re focusing on the alpha release due at end of this quarter, and every major update each quarter after that. After each release, we have user feedback and game analytics to further improve the user experience.

How Do you plan to promote your project in different countries, wherein English is not spoken well? Do you have local communities for them to better understand your project?

First, our Discord channel has a section for questions in (currently) 12 different languages that we endeavor to answer natively. (There’s also a language request if you’re not currently represented). But the game will initially launch in English and we’ll plot out language updates as we progress and build the community.

How will you encourage people not familiar with MMO games to try Elumia?

The most accurate answer is that we’re exploring and testing all the best options. Basically, we want people to play the game because we believe that it’s going to be a) a lot of fun, and b) engage players beyond what they’ve experienced in MMOs so far. So, we want that bar to entry to be low. Exactly how low, in what form, that will evolve as we go through playtesting, etc. But we want people to play the game!

The adoption of the products you create and the solutions you offer and the awareness of your target audience is proof that you are on your way to success! So, what are your plans to get more adoption and attract non-crypto users to your platform?

This boils down to having the alpha release playable by a select few, and basically, showing what we’ve got! We’re constantly collecting assets as they are created, and releasing them when we can mostly on our Discord channel. But for the non-crypto audience, for them it’s about presenting a game that has compelling lore, characters, visuals, and ownership opportunities.

Your project name seems to be very interesting. Does it have any story behind it? Can you share with us the inspiration for this name?

I really can’t wait to sharing the story behind Elumia. Its soul is from the collected experience in developing MMOs of the team leadership, blended with the vision of the opportunities that gaming in the metaverse can offer that will truly enhance engagement in the world for players.

Do you have Whitepaper?

Yes! You can find it on the Discord channel #official-links

Marketing is a central element for every project. What is your strategy to attract new users to your platform and keep them long-term.

The core strategy is to keep showing what we’ve got! We’re proud of what we’ve been able to show so far as it has already attracted a lot of interest. And once the alpha release exposes players to the game, we’ll be taking all that feedback to work into refining it, and those players will be able to discuss their experience.

As I’m sure you’re aware, building MASSIVE multiplayer games is not easy, but our collective experience will deliver on the promise of a world that will engage players deeply in the lore, the exploration, the challenge of combat, and the ownership.

Security and anonymity are always prioritized by BlockChain projects in the development of project platforms and technologies. So, do you have any technological solutions or plans to enhance user trust in these issues?

First, the technology solutions are ingrained in the experience that this team has in building MMO game worlds, managing their economies, building secure server architecture, and delivering a smooth gaming experience.

What are your team’s experience and achievements in the blockchain field? What games has the Legends of Elumia team worked on before?

We have folks on the team that have been involved in blockchain business and technology for as long as it has been around. The team of 40 game developers includes employees whose resumes include shipping games like Warhammer, Final Fantasy, Guild Wars, D&D, and a whole bunch more.

How do you intend to grow the community around the game?

We’re going to grow the community on the back of releasing a truly fun game. That’s our core focus in development right now. Naturally, the background of the team and the vision that has been presented has attracted a lot of interest with investors and speculators in the crypto market. It’s the absolute #1 priority to make Legends of Elumia a fun game to play for anyone, to ensure easy access to that experience, and to deliver a world that’s filled with great places to see and stuff to do (and creatures to defeat!)

Do you consider community feedback/requests during the creation of your product in order to expand on fresh ideas for your project? Many projects fail because the target audience and clients are not understood. I’d like to know who your ideal consumer is.

Most definitely! We encourage user feedback as all that communication enters the pipeline of discussion. Of course, we have a core design doc that dictates the development plan — and that’s built from the experience of past projects and vision for the future — but there is always room to take on board thoughts, suggestions, and commentary, and we’ll continue to do that through development, release and beyond.
